I use this combo every day, and I must say NO, you should not throw an amp into the mix. It sounds great just the way it is, practically no hiss at all, and awesome SQ.

I am using iPhone 3G and a pair of TF10 or ESW9 on the go. I think the iphone h/o is doing fairly well with TF10, but apparent very poor with ESW9. With either my portable amp SR71A or Diablo, the ESW9 and TF10P sound completely different. The marginal benefit is worthy in my case.

However, I only listen to my rig on train, during which period I seldom use my phone and keep them in a pouch. If you make frequent phone calls or text messaging, okay, forget about amps. ppl will think you are holding a bomb detonator

I have the Triple-Fi "vi" model. For those of you considering this version, the "vi" feature allows you to answer phone calls and speak via a button and speaker on the monitor's wire. Using an amp renders this feature useless.

That right there is the answer. To you, it sounds great and you don't feel the need to get a Amp. It's not necessary to spend all that money when you already love the setup. Don't bother. Use that extra money to get yourself a nice iPhone case and CDs. Don't get caught up with spending so much when you already feel that you have a nice setup.

Did you rip your music to Apple Lossless on your iPhone?
