I would be interested if someone knows if this has/can be done and where?

amping will have far greater improvements in SQ than cable will imo. But, I generally don't bother bringing my amp - few times the size of my iaudio 7. Makes my portable rig very unportable.

also, did you rip all your CDs into FLAC ? -this has rather noticeable effect on TF10, in my experience.

to answer your question - yes, there are cable upgrades available. But I'm not entirely clear on who makes which cables, so I'll let someone answer that instead

You can use Westone ES2 cable.

is there a discernible improvement in your opinion, or am I just changing for change sake?

I am in the process of getting most of my music transferred to FLAC, but I will have to invest in an outboard HD because my internal HD is far too small. I do have one of those FiiO amps on order...looking forward to what it will bring to the mix.

There is IMO, it tightens up the bass making it less muddy which in turn allows you to enjoy the mids and highs more.

Leaving SQ aside, the ES2 cables are very very comfortable. It doesn't tangle at all and microphonics are next to nil.

A must have accessory for the UEs.

i dont find the bass muddy at all, but i do want the es2 cables for the tangle factor. i miss that cable from my UM1's, is there a mod you have to do to the cable so they fit right?

is the cable stiff and awkward like the stock triple cable or is it better quality?

The above may be true, but where can I find a cable to replace the stock ones for my trip's other than the Westones?

You can't use the UE custom series cable with the universal line. The pin spacing is different. [Or so i have been told by UE]

If you want to use the Westone cable you have to shorten the pins a bit so they fit properly.

There are a few custom options from other people. Have a look in the TF10 appreciation thread.

Also, APureSound will be releasing a custom cable at some point this year.

The first replacement cable I bought for the FreQ was accidently the Triple/Super Fi cable (I wanted the UE custom cable). It fit the FreQ perfectly, as did the Westone cable and the UE custom cable. The custom cable is leagues ahead of the Triple/Super cable. The spacing is the same. The only difference is that I had to shave the plug (not the pins) slightly with a box cutter. 5 minutes, no hassle and it's ready to go. Perhaps UE doesn't want people to know the custom "magic" is in the cable itself?

I have swapped the UE custom cable, Triple cable (after small shave) and Westone cable between my UE11 and FreQShow, and all fit both perfectly.

idiotekniQues, the UE custom is about as flexible as the Westone cable, not at all like the stiff Triple cable.

So what did you have to do to the UE custom cable to get it to fit the TF10? Got any pics?
