Will the DAC part of a portable amp provide output at the HP jack? Will the signal going to the headphones from the amp/DAC's HP jack be processed through the DAC, or is the DAC simply for use with a computer?

Thanks

If you're asking if the DAC will bypass the internal amp, probably not although as with the Pico, for instance, you can use the HP output like a preamp and send that signal to another amp.

The DAC, if it's a USB DAC, will be for your computer. If you use the analog input on the DAC/amp you will bypass the DAC and it will function just like a standard portable amp.

So there's no point in having an amp with a DAC for strictly portable use? What I'm trying to get at is, the DAC won't have any influence on the sound quality in a portable rig when using the miniplug input and output?

Thank you. You just saved me about $165 for a brand new D2 Boa. I came across enough funds to consider a purchase because of the DAC involved, but since the DAC does no good in my portable rig, I won't bother with it.
