Ety ER-4S...now I understand

Yeah Vij, I suppose they could market some ER-10S that were essentially ER-4S with a huge aluminum foil cap that supposedly made them sound better

Yea..huge aluminum cap, lower-imp., 4S style sound without TOO much sacrifice in fidelity, AND even better......more sensitive.

I tell ya, the more time I spend with these, the more impressed I get. Simply amazing. In addition to getting used to having these in my ears (mind you I also moisten them per the instructions, so I have two wet things in my ears), I find I have to get used to the isolation they provide. I am almost paranoid when I have them in...like someone is standing behind me ready to say "BOO!"

Man, flashbacks to my late teens, early twenties and the paranoia that I felt then (albeit for totally different reasons).

Etymotics can have a new marketing scheme: "Brings that childish giggle back to your face, even if you are an old fart"

The etys ruined full sized headphones for me. For me, they destroyed the HD600s, which I eventually sold because they didn't get much use... I only kept the AKG K340s for a full sized headphone, and the etys do the rest

I know the feeling about someone standing over you though, it really sucks. Everytime I listen to them I'm always looking over my shoulder 'cause I hear things, of course they're on the cd, but I think its someone coming in my room. Hehe...

Surf...I told ya man. Give the plastic to the wife, tell her not to give it back to you no matter what...then pull out your debit card.

This place will kill ya. But what a way to go.

Yeah, this forum does make you want to spend your money in large amounts. After about half a year of reading all of these reviews carefully, I have hopefully decided to just skip the sr80's and v6's, the 325s and hd580/600's, skip the beyers and akgs and all the rest, and simply get some proclaimedly perfect Ety's to accompany the Koss Ksc-50 (my bargain phones) and Sony ex70's (my stylish portable isolated bassy earbuds) that I already got, so then I will have only the cans I need...the only thing is, I might sell my ex70s and get some e888's instead....and I will probably upgrade my ksc-50's to ksc-35's if i can ever find them for sale anywhere in Canada....aw hell this forum has made me one of the most indecisive people to ever set foot on this Earth...20 bucks says my plan of 3 essential cans will be warped into about 20 or 25 cans, one each having their own purpose. And then every once in a while I will have a day where I say. "what the hell? where did all my money go?"

That's why I want Ety's so bad, they will probably be a cure/prevention for the upgrading that I know I would do if I had the money.

Looking forward to joining Team Ety. Thank God they're making a cheaper version of their current lineup as well, the sooner the better.

Congratulations, JMT.

There is going to be one problem with comparative reviews: You may not be much inclined to use your other headphones until you go through all your music with Ety's. If you've got a large collection, we'll have to be very patient. In my own case, I got Beyer DT931's a few months before the Ety's, and I have been unable to use them once the Ety's got here. (And that's not because I think the Beyer's aren't good 'phones. I just can't put the Ety's down--well, pull them out--yet.)

Just enjoy the Ety's...they aren't particularly great to AB with anything else anyways. Not exactly the best phones to swap back and forth with. They usually like to sit in your ears and stay there for a little while. In fact I always wonder about people that AB these phones...I have really good fits with the Ety's, but even I wouldn't dare go through the ABing process with the phones which makes me wonder if anyone who have AB'd the phones ever got a good seal in the first place.

I think JMT is not only lucky to have Ety's, but Ears4Ety's as well. I think people that "get" it from the start can't do anything but love em. This is just the trend that I see when reading countless Ety experiences.

I got DT931's also...I still NEED a less isolating full-size can lest I be deaf and noncommunicative for hours upon hours. But everytime I listen to the DT931's particularly in treble performance...I always end up thinking sooner or later...if you can't do it right (like Ety's), don't try to do it at all. But I still think there will always be plenty of full-size cans worth having...just don't think for a moment that the Ety's will actually make this decision EASY for you...it'll make it HARDER.

I know I have the hardest time thinking about sacrificing the DT931 in favor of the newer Ety's, wondering WHY on earth would I want TWO pairs of isolating headphones when the entire point of the DT931 was to have a high performance pair of non-isolating phones.

I don't know about that. I spent some more time with them last night, and noticed that the left/right seemed unbalanced. So I fiddled around with the left side and after a while finally got it to where it was balanced and felt as comfortable as the right. Maybe my two ears are of different sizes, but I seem to have to really work at getting the left side seated and sealed. I do find that for both sides I have to push them pretty deep into my ear canals to get them sealed. That said, and I will reiterate, once you do get them S/S, they sound absolutely fantastic.

Perhaps there is just too much empty space between my ears.
