Y'all know 'bout the HD-580s and even 600s but did you know about the HD-828s?

So folks, time to show you what I have lived with, before I got my lovely HD-580s...

THIS:

Click the image above or this text to see the phones in their full glory

And how can you NOT love phones that market with things such as:
  1. Ideal for use with many different stereo units (opposed to all the mono units people got layin' around)
  2. and Brilliant full dimension stereo sound. (I guess that's much better than full dimension mono sound too

    )
The AuDio might appeal to AOL kiddies out there...

Hi-Fi is so close to Head-Fi, eh?

And SUCH a deal...7 bucks...

[/sarcasm]

Okay, hope that made your day a bit better.

(It was meant to, if it did not I'm sorry, I tried

To be honest, my mom got these things and I didn't care much at the time, I barely used them anyhow, my Rio 300 (32Meg) combined with Sony Streetstyle did the trick and I used the Sonys at the PC too ... it's Ipod + PortaPros after starting to visit this place and HD580s, amp and DT770s to follow...NOW that wallet thing makes a whole lot more sense

I only began to listen to these more after they got modded, and by that I mean that the left driver was dead so both got replaced by the perfectly working and so-so sounding ones from previous Sony portable phones (ones with metal band) and suddenly these had a whole lot more bass (since it's Sony I bet you people aren't amazed, let's not go into the quality of the bass, shall we?

some EXISTED, end of story.)

They are still around to remind me of the time when I knew nothing about headphones that did not cook your ears...the time when comfort and headphones were two words that simply could not go togheter...

So this place's done a lot of great things for me...and a LOT of mean things to my wallet

Hope I don't get bashed for omiting company names in the thread's subject, but I'm rather sure that if newcommers don't realize it's a joke at first the $7 sticker on the 828s should give them a clue

Those "HD-828s" are exactly the cheapest full-sized (semi-)closed headphones that I've been seeing these days at DJ/Pro Audio stores, such as Sam Ash.

Oh, wait, is that a sarcastic post from you, Nick3D?

Eagle_Driver, you're evil, ya got me dreaming about that 8 grand setup (source/cables/amp/phones, I think) a while ago and I still think if I get that much cash to blow at one time I might do it...evil evil person...

Even though they have that attractive $7 walmart price tag-

I have one question: why do these headphones exist?

Answer: To piss Head-Fiers off.

Actually, to be honest, I'm more curious SUP with the HD-*** BS...

couldn't they use some 1337 speech and do something like CR-4P for a label?

*sigh* After a bit of thinking...that wouldn't work either cuz then people that don't pay attention to ANYTHING might confuse them with ER-4Ps ... *sigh*

*the one-time bump for the "Daytime" head-fiers to see this (130 views so far, I'm amazed at the few comments)...I sorta posted it past midnight...(no speeches about the great importance of head-fi.org's existance yet?

Thanks, this whole thing was meant to make some people that have forgotten about the sub-8 dollar headphone cathegory remember it and hopefully laugh about it ... I REALLY didn't have the ER-4Ps in mind when I came up with that, it was just use of 1337 speech that happened to be so close to them...so far I have no opinion-what-so-ever of the ER-4Ps.

Why not get KSC35's if you're gonna spend about $30 anyways...

Already modded here, one of the bigger mods that a lot of people would not try after spending tons of money on their cans, but drivers were replaced with Sony drivers and it helped out very much, despite the fact that drivers were pulled out of portable phones and stuck inside much bigger phones. EVEN if the material around the ears was replaced, it it still so small (or else the HD-580s are SO big
biggrin.gif
)

as long as you have not put OTHER headphones on (thus my fear of being too curious and putting on Stax or worse yet, Orpheus) ... they're very nice, but once you try something better (like, you know, HD-580s, but even PortaPros) suddenly they are not comfortable and can drive you nuts if you wore the HD-580s right before...then again, there IS a significant price difference between HD-580s and $7 Walmart sale cans
smily_headphones1.gif

sound-wise there's mids, surrounded by highs and lows (very analytical, eh?) ... the lows were decent to me, but ONLY at low volume.

Alright, enought of that, if you guys wanna mod them go ahead but I'd much rather try to mod a computer game (Reward being, oh you know, a million bucks
biggrin.gif
... as if I'd get it
