what do you mean no caps just felt ?

I got these drivers directly from beyer as spare parts...and I've put back the black round piece + white cloth from the 250 Ohms drivers from my stock DT770.

did you have the black round piece + white round cloth ?

Yes, just felt, but not on the back of the magnet, rolled around it like cylinder. Interesting that your Manufaktur DT770 came with diodes too, manufaktur 600Ohm DT880 does not have any.

humm OK I don't get it..so you didn't have the big black part w/ the white cloth around it?

mine is not manufaktur, it's a stock dt770 premium/250 and I've got the spare parts(genuine leather headband+ear pads + 600Ω drivers) to mod it...I think it sounds just fine as it is

Yep, that's what I meant by felt around it, but no back cap with felt, just bare magnet. BTW, where did you get leather headband?

Sorry to be so persistent, but what should I use to attach the felt to the front of the drivers? I just want to make sure its easily reversible, and not going to damage the drivers if/when I take it off again later.

so you did have the round black plastic piece w/ the white fabric around it like on this picture : http://www.pixelz.fr/5/7/e/53fd5f03e...1d941e5ftt.jpg

but the back of the driver did not have this part : http://i36.tinypic.com/2rqn9c8.jpg

and looked like this

hummm, were they brand new unopened ?!

well I annoyed the hell outta their german tech support for the genuine leather headband/manufaktur ear pads

I added some very thin felt on top of the drivers foam, it sounds much better now and a lot more comfy!

if you don't have 2 left hands, it should go fine...but be careful when taking off the pads, never pinch the velours always hold the black lip

Yep, that would be correct, no cap on the back of 600Ohm brand new, unopened DT770.

QQQ said that the DT770 became very bassy w/o the back cap..

Haven't noticed that, I am awaiting for a replacement pair as the first one had some impedance mismatch between drivers, so I'll check that one too, may be it was just one time deal sloppy assembly.

and how did it translate IRL? volume mismatch?

BTW, how do you measure it exactly? I happen to have a multimeter

If you play mono recording the staging will be off center.

The sleeve (1) is ground, tip (3) is left channel, ring (2) is right one.

haha, they say AVS is "the place to become unhappy"....how about head-fi
biggrin.gif

OK thanks for the picture, I recabled my 770 so no worries
wink.gif

but I mean you can do it on the phones unplugged, or you have to play music through them and plug the multimeter on the drivers connectors?

did you have a HUGE diff between the 2
confused.gif

mono sounds pretty centered here...well the 2 drivers don't have the exact same FR of course.
