seems like there are more headfi-ers posting their experiences about the d7k since electronics expo made them a bit more affordable...sadly missed out on the deal but am constantly searching the for sale forums in search of these wooden beauties
Been listening to my d2000's for 3 hours straight through my ipad un amped. I am in musical bliss, I can't wait to see what they sound like when my amp from Fred_Fred gets here !

I have asked this question in a new thread but got no response so I hope you guys can help me.
I am very interested in AH-D2000 and would like some thoughts on how it compares to ATH-M50 and HFI-580. I picked 580 over M50 because of crisp hi/med and not-too-shabby bass but I am still wanting a bit more and D2000 seems to fit the bill from what I read.
I would like tight, strong bass, clear hi/med and comfort (wearing for several hours a day, 580 is not too bad but maybe something more comfortable). Bulkness is not a concern.
Anyone has experience with the above mentioned phones?
Thanks!
I just got my AH-D5000 in the mail, pugged it into my modest a/v receiver which is plugged into my modest HT Omega Claro Plus+ sound card, listening to some FLAC tracks (trance, drum &bass, dubstep, classical, metal, progressive rock, etc)
Well, jeez. I knew I was in for a surprise (upgrading from Sennhesier HD595), but I honestly didn't expect this. I am so happy with these. My novice ears and audiophile mind cannot even begin to imagine how headphones could be superior to these. I might have just defeated the upgrade-itis, because this is it, right here. These are incredible to my ears. I wonder what the AH-D7000 is like, and I wonder if I can even discern a difference between those and these.

found them actually for about $560 shipped through electronics expo (via promo code LSDA1220) as of yesterday...they said they only had one more pair available though. had to do the customer service chat thing since i couldn't purchase them online.
I left the Sennheiser HD-595 for the D5000s as well. I initially decided upon the Sennheisers because I was amazed at the performace from my little PX-100s. However, I was never satisfied with the HD-595s, and I felt like I needed more bass. My HD-595s were so underwhelming that I had no interest in upgrading to the Senn HD-600 or HD-650. After weeks of online research, since I was unable to trial any headphones, I finally decided on the Denon D5000s. I am really happy with these headphones. Now I don't feel like my music is empty anymore.
I think that I just prefer the sound of closed cans. I also grabbed a pair of Audio-Technica M50s. These, too, are able to satisfy my listening experience very nicely, replacing a pair of Grado SR80i cans used in my office.
I have spent more time enjoying the music now, but I think I will always be sniffing around for something new, and hopefully better. I'm not sure that I will find huge leaps in performace improvements from this point on, at least not within my realm of affordability.
an amp/dac combo would be ideal, but I can also make this dac last longer and just go for a nicer amp. I'm tired of rocking the hybrid amp, I think I want to go Solid state straight up now.

An update.
I have just over 150 hours on my 5000's now and am just in awe of all that they do! Wonderful mid's, liquid, crisp treble and deep, deep, tight bass. The Jmoney V3 pads are a very worthwhile upgrade and great value, them being leather adds to the luxury feeling of the headphones.
