You just HAD to 1-up everyone with your TD-124, didn't you? :p

(Joking aside, that's probably one of the most beautiful TT's I've ever seen :beerchug:)

Such wonderful looking picture records.. Over time, won't the paint, or whatever they use, rub off? Shame that record costs so much. I figure everyone would buy two. One to keep, one to listen to.

I believe the artwork is embedded under the surface. And if you take good care of your records, and play them on turntables such as those pictured above, there's little risk of wearing them out. Use a crappy Crossley turntable with a ceramic cartridge and no adjustable counterweight, and that's a very different story.

I don't like hearing albums as much either becuse I think of an album as a collection of songs or a piece of music, not a physical thing. I have ~400 albums in my collection. Some vinyl, some CD, some reel tape. I know what someone is talking about when I hear "my albums" though. *returns to the YOUNGER GENERATION side of the room*

I hope the concept of "an album" never goes. Especially with the digital generation, "got the new album by so an so" even now sounds dated

One thing that's cool about CD's compared to records is the ability to play a concept album from start to finish without interruption, as it's not necessary to flip/switch records.

singles and albums always sway back and forth, it's not a simple issue of generations.  single 45's were all the rage before the 1960's brought the album back... single CDs were also popular in the mid-90's, a break between album-length CDs before and after.  it's cyclical :D

Agreed, as much as I like vinyl I never really totally "got" Yes' "Tales From Topographic Oceans" until I heard it uninterrupted from start to finish on CD.
