Hi all, I've got an old iPod I'd like to ressurect. Its a third generation unit that still functions well except for its twenty minute battery life. What are your suggestions for replacing the battery.

I replaced my battery ( I used a kit from a Canadian Ram Dealer). It was done like they show in this video but the tool I got didn't look as good and it took me about half an hour because I was being careful - it was much harder for the case to come off and being careful around the dock connector on the bottom.

Here is a video showing the steps:

In my experience, eBay has the best selection and price, overall the best buying experience. Every battery comes with at least one pry tool, so you should be set with whatever you do choose to get. If you're merely content with anything about a 20 minute battery life, see if Future Shop and Best Buy have any batteries in stock. They usually have some for the iPod mini and iPod video (why they don't carry a full selection leaves me scratching my head), but I have seen 3G batteries there. Of course, there is a veritable buffet of iPod repair sites on the world wide web selling batteries, so give them a look-see if the latter choices don't please you. Here are a few:

At the very least, Google is a great help. Good luck.
