AKG K181 DJ, C-Padded

The HD-280 Pads, with a little bit of stretch, fit perfectly to the K181 Dj's. The replacement pads can be bought at the Sennheiser site. I was most worried about the sound change with the C pads, but there has been almost no change in the sound: the bass is still very much intact, and there's a tiny bit more of air and soundstage. I guess since HD280's were closed cans themselves, the pads were designed in the way to keep sound in, and the distance from the drivers has been virtually unchanged from when using stock supra-auraal AKG pads.

Just a show for anyone who would be interested. AKG K181 DJ's are very good sounding cans, and this mod got rid of the comfort problems for me. I was very pleased and wanted to share for any other users that are out there.

PS- I don't know if this will work for K81 DJ's... Ive heard the cup sizes were different between 81's and 181's.

indeed, the whole size K81dj/518dj are smaller than K181dj... btw nice mod anyway, thx for sharing...

Actually that looks pretty slick. I'm also pretty sure the 181 and 81 are different sizes, but I'll give it a go anyway the next time I've got the chance.
