Can someone please explain what this is?

It means swaping in another opamp to see how it affects the sound.

OpAmps are little black chips with legs sticking out of them. If they are in a socket, you can just pull them out, carefully, and re-insert another one in its place.

If it is soldered in place you must desolder the first one, solder in a socket, then refer to the above step to try different opamps until you find the one that sounds best to you.

It got its name from tuberolling. With tubes you kinds of roll it around as you remove it, so the phrsase opamp rolling just took off from that.

I'm still in a little bit of denial actually. Let me work through it and get back to you.

Hey, there's nothing wrong with being weird and obsessive if it's dealing with music. Actually, it's perfectly normal. Music was made to be obsessed over.
