I like the comfort of the angle pads, but not the change in sound (piercng treble). Mine are in a ziplock bag in my cabinet.

The stock pads are shaped the way they are for a reason. I agree the forward hump feels a teeny bit weird, but the sonic benefits are undeniable.

my hearing must be bad.
i dont notice the harsh treble.

did you get full stage 1 or just the pads?

Did you do the stage 1 yourself or Lawton? Also what was to changes in signature with the mod? Thx

I sent them to Mark.

Without the angle pads, the bass is still powerful, but a little tighter and better controlled - more in line with the rest of the response. They might be a tad brighter too, but I'm not sure. Overall the difference from stock is noticeable, but subtle - not nearly as dramatic as Mark or some of the reviews out there would lead you to believe.

I'm rocking the stock, too. I love them the way that they are. :)

I tried to access Dakmart from my work computer, and I was blocked. The proxy or whatever said that it was a known malware site. Has anyone heard anything like this before?

Full stage 1

They are unlistenable to me with angle pads.

i bought full stage 1, but did not fit the damping material, yet i still dont hear any harshness.
we are all different i guess!

Nope, it's fine for me.  I have McAfee SiteAdvisor.  Though for ordering, better through the phone (just be safe from malware/middle man).  Have seen a lot of complaints online about credit card numbers got jacked and I think part of it due to a compromised site instead of shady Dakmart ppl.  They do have great discounts on Denon 'phones!  Too bad no more D5000/D7000 left

I still think my LA7000 are quite good, and beat the heck out of the stock D7000.

When I compared the LA7000 to my K1000 I found the midrange and treble to be very similar in quality, but the LA7000 were more intimate sounding and had tighter and deeper bass, while the K1000 bass sounded like listening to a live concert from the bathroom out in the hallway (regardless of amp the K1000 didn't extend deep or have impact).  So I sold the K1000 to buy my LCD-1 rev1.

The LA7000 was still more enjoyable than my LCD-2 rev1, but I have since upgraded to the LCD-2 Rev2 and I now think that they are probably on a similar level.  I'm certain the LCD-2 rev2 would be better than a stock D7000, but my markl modded D7000 with Jenna Labs cable, upgraded cups, and JMoney ear pads is a definite step up from the stock D7000.  I've had them since July 2009 and have no plans of parting with the LA7000.  I also would not part with my LCD-2 rev2, HE-500 or HE-6, or HD800.  I'm not going to rank them, but will say that depending on the amp and music, any of these phones can become my 1st choice with certain amps and music.

Currently listening to the LCD2. I love the sound, but I still prefer the stock D7000.

The LCD2 is technically superior, but I prefer the fun sound on the D7000.

I enjoy the sound signature of the Denon also, I want to try the LCD-2 and the HiFiMan HE-500 when the opportunity presents itself.

this is what keeps me from getting rid of the D7000, though i've been considering getting some HE-500 instead. ill probably put the denons on the FS/FT soon.

also, i have enjoyed the LCD-2 alot lately
