Burn in confirmed. Much better now.

That is all.

And for those who say the bass on the hd280s in weak, your ears are probably damaged from listening to music too loud/too much bass , so you buy the megabass phones to compensate. The bass on the hd280s is really very good.

How long have you burned them in for? I've been looking into a pair of these for use with my Ipod and META. Is the isolation really there? Just asking. TIA

about 72+ hours full on burn in and then regular use

if you're thinking of getting them for a portable headphone, you better think twice. One thing for sure about these cans is they are ULTRA DORKY! and the isolation is very good, but does get slightly less of an effect over time, but so little it doesn't really matter, but on the plus side is they get even MORE comfortable

They sit on my head perfectly now.

Yeah, they would be great for travel if they weren't so dorky looking. You should only wear them around friends, if you go out.

Tons of isolation though.

I think you might get away with it on a train or something, but.... bleh

give it a chance, maybe people will be interested, and you'll start a head fi fanclub on the trains, busses, subways etc..

Uh oh....don't let Jude catch wind of this....or you're in store for a new title.

what are you talking about? people see me behind my window and yell DORK! at me, luckily though with the great isolation i don't hear it, but i can still lip read. Good cans anyhow

Nah, Jude doesn't go for the obvious stuff, and Lobster's been founder of Team Dork for a long time, at least since he posted a picture of himself wearing the HD280s.

Well, the dork factor is no big deal to be, I'm already a dork as it is for just having a headphone amp (at least where I'm from, about the only brand they've ever heard of is Sony

). So, my big question is, I've been comparing these with the eggos for awhile now, and after reading a few threads, I've determined that the eggos have a bit better soundstage, while the 280s have better isolation...is that right? Also, if anyone has both of these cans and would care to comment, it would be most appreciated, with my current budget, I can only afford one or the other *sigh*. Oh well, once school gets out, I can get a job and hopefully stractch my need-for-new-cans itch.

I use HD280 ocassionaly at work if I can't find the Sony 7506 around.
However, best closed headphone I find that I really dig is the new Ultrasone HFI 650. I found them much more pleasing than the HD280.
To be honest, I tried to like the HD280, but haven't been much impressed with it. I tried to like it since I didn't like the 7506 too. I was expecting a 580 performance from the 280 though since I used to own the 580.

I now have a HD600 and the Ultrasone HFI650 ULE. Different animal, have been switching back and forth, I haven't tried them with great amp yet though. Been using them thru the Echo Indigo. Waiting for my Benchmark DAC1.
