I ordered the 250-80's and the 770-pro's at the same time, but the 770's are on backorder. I might just have to cancel the 770's and try an open cup Sennheiser, too!

What is a good open element headphone for use w/o an amp (at this point, maybe i'll get one later)?

For open cans that sound good without an amp I would recommend either Grado SR80, SR60 or Alessandro MS Series - I saw a thread here somewhere that stated that the Alessandro MS Series is an underated gem too.

If you want to go for portable (open) you can't beat the koss ksc35. Next choice would be portapros - none need amps.
