Bose noise cancelling headphones

kwkarth,

I haven't tried any good ANC headphones, only the Sony, Bose and Sennheiser ones. The sennheiser was the ony one that wasn't useless. We didn't test below 100Hz yet though.

mail4u,
I believe the company is Peltor. The last time I talked with their engineer he admitted theat their passive earmuffs were better than their noise cancelling ones, but they make much more $ on the cative ones.

Hi Don,
Yup, below 100Hz is where the anc stuff really shines.

I've got a pair of the passive Peltor's(sp?) and they work very well. Before I got my Ety's I used to use them at the office to block out the riff-raff, but now the Ety's are all i need!!

The anc is more effective at low freq's BTW, because phase matching gets easier as the frequency goes down, but as a result, in order to adequately cancel low frequency energy the anc headphone itself must be capable of good low frequency response. I think that's why the Koss QZ2000's are so effectve because the PortaPro drivers are inherently good in the low end.

Koss OEM's the circuit from Andrea Systems.
