Hello everyone at head-fi!
Recently I made a thread about which cans should I get, the dt800s or the d2000s and I went with the d2000s.
Firstly, I was surprised at how truly comfy the denons are! I can no longer wear the Ultrasones, they hurt my head!
Secondly, I love the sound! Just the kind of sound I like.

I've meticulously looked after them in the 6 or so weeks since I bought them. I've only ever carried them by the headband, I've never put them in my bag or other place that they could be damaged, and I've only transported them to work once a week since I got them (I take them home on weekends), going straight from work to my car, my car to my room and back.
While carrying them out to the car on saturday, the left cup fell right off the headband while I was carrying them! I was shocked to find that the screw holding the cup to the headband had snapped clean off, leaving the top of the screw in the headband (meaning I can't get it out).
I then called two places that say they repair denon equipment in my area, and both told me they charge an upfront of $66AUD (~$60US) BEFORE THEY EVEN LOOK AT THE PROBLEM.
So basically, they charge me $66 to tell me "yes, the screw really is broken", then charge me a further $80 per hour plus whatever the parts cost.
The worst part is that they haven't even heard of the headphones before, let alone have any spare parts to fix it yet (I asked them).
Does anyone know where I can get spare parts for Denons, or have had any experience with this problem and know a better solution? Spending in excess of $100 to fix a screw is frikn ridiculous!
I have attached a picture of the broken part.
BTW I live in Melbourne area.
Thanks for your time, please help me!

This hapenned to me to on the D5000s, what you have to do is take "broken part"(it's not really broken just got loose), put it back where it was, and then at the top, there's a little nut that you have to tighten back.

Sorry for the blurry pic, but you should be able to see the nut in question...

edit: you need to get rid of the top cap(it's above the nut in the picture I put up)

Right, thanks, I'll give that a go!
edit: Thanks kindly for even putting a picture up. My headphones are at work, so I'll try it out when I get there. Will report back with the results.

yeah my cup fell off a few days ago as well. Mine was the small screw the holds the cup from the bottom came out. I just screwed it back in but it will likely come out again in time. It just looks like the screw is to short.

Next time I will look to try and make a more permanent solution. I am looking for some longer screws now. I think some locktite should help also. So things don't loosen up again.

Glad to hear you got it sorted out. Those poor D series Denons have been plagued with this pesky problem for a while now. Apparently Denon has corrected the issue with more recent releases.

Bumping up an old thread with a question. Is there any other way to put the cup on if you've lost the screw? I'm considering getting a used pair with this issue (the cup is off with no screw) - has anyone used another kind of screw or anything else to hold them together? If there's a link that will answer this question I'd appreciate you posting it.
