If I wanted to build a HD600 cable, I would get the appropriate connectors by buying a new stock cable and decapitating it right? Has anyone done this?

Have i done? no. Am i working on it? you bet on it. Infact, i have the decapatacted connectors within eyeshot ATM
It's kind of a pain, cut the cable maybe 2 inches from the connector, and solder that wire onto your cable. And no, there is no way, short of sending it to cardas for termination, to get it without soldering the extra wire to the cable
