Hello everyone,
I wanted to share here a few pictures of my META42. It was built in the last couple of weeks. The amplifying section is separated from the power supply.
The amplifier section consists of:
- AD8620 (soldered directly onto the board)
- ALPS 10k potentiometer.
- 2 EL2002 per channel.
- Cardas RCA's.
- Neutrik jack.
- silver wire everywhere along the signal path, even the jumper wires (R8 and R9). (I only use copper wire to bring the power to the board)
The amplifier section is housed in an homemade box. I also machined the knob out of titanium 6-4. It has some charm in my point of view.
Power supply (not displayed) is based on the Gilmore design, I just modified some resistors to get +-10V. Everything is housed in another homemade box (a few finishing touches left to do)
Now, the most important part are the sonics... I use the amplifier with Philips HP890. The amplifier brings a very good level of nuances with air between the instruments, helping to create a more believable soundstage. I like the tight bass extension.
Thank you to the META design team, and Mr Gilmore for their respective design.

And now, the pictures... low quality (the plies do not seem to be parrallell anymore on the 3 quarter shot)
Edit: uploaded a better compressed image. Now the plies are parallel
