Do headphone drivers degrade over time?
I've had my Sony MDR-V6 for about 15 years. They are still in visibly good shape with some wear on the pleather earpads. I have used them mostly indoors. They sound pretty good, but not great, compared to my speakers. And it seems that I'm a bit less enchanted by them than I was several years ago. Would new MDR-V6 sound better than my aged set? I avidly follow the commentary on the performance of various headphones in this forum and others, but I've apparently somehow bypassed discussions that address this topic.
