I was wondering if it would be possible to use the wall mount volume controls as pots for preamps/amps. It would be big and bulky, but I remember reading somewhere that the transformer type volume controls are the best or something...

And generally the wall volumes are pretty cheap, I don't know about their construction but I'm assuming they have to be pretty darn durable to be a wall mount abused by kids and others...

Anyone have any idea?
