New portable amps from Meier Audio?!?

"Connected to USB the amp can run from the 5V powerline of the USB-port and no battery or external supply is required."

From the 2Move's detail.
This is very nice to hear.

The aesthetic factor ruined by large logo & fonts imprinted on the top of case... do they offer the standard non-painted case?

Lovely. Can't wait for pricing and release date!

Anyone know the difference between the PCM2702 and the PCM2704? I'm a big fan of the 2704. I don't know which one was in the original Move.

PS - I agree with the above about the logo on the top. The Meier Corda logo by itself wouldn't be all that bad, but the Microsoft Word-esque text is rather unappealing to electronics fashionistas like me.

I like the internal Li-On thing, except when it dies and i cant find a replacement! Everyones like...well just contact the maker,etc......but say the maker stops making.....or ends up in the big head-amp factory in the sky? Then what?
I like a recharging circuit and a user-replaceable 9v.

The exact fear I have for Li-on products. To add in, Li-on gradually loses its ability to supply the same amount of time it was originally intended to have.

I was thinking of getting a Pico before this. But now I'm definitely getting the new 2Move unless someone introduces a new dac/amp with user-replaceable batteries.

A 2Move prototype is part of the amp line-up at a small meet in Germany. I guess that the DAC will be directly compared to Aria, Cantate and Opera.

Thanks to seehee2k there exist some nice pictures of the 2Move without the font on its top:

Now that's more like it, none of that font on it to spoil the overall beauty and great craftsmanship that Dr. Meier puts into his work, I hope he does the same thing to the XXS

It seems the XXS is a pure-analog edition 2MOVE without any value added feature.

When not looking at the DAC's, the XXS and 2Move should sound exactly like the Headsix and Move since they all have 2 AD8610 opamps.

Likely, but there are probably differences for sure.

The 2Move is using the same DAC as the Move, and I'm betting he made revisions to it so it doesn't lose it's lustre when functioning as a DAC like the original Move did.

I want to hear one...definitly.

As far as I know the 2Move has the PCM2702 dac, while the Move had a PCM2704.

I e-mailed him and asked about the new amp and he said:

I’m currently working on a redesign of the amp. It should hit the market probably in February. Pricewise there will be no major changes. The amp will have a better USB-DAC though.

Cheers

But that was over a month ago.

To kind of answer my question about the difference between the PCM2702 and PCM2704 (at least technical difference), according to the specs the 2702 has a 105 SNR compared to 98 on the 2704, and .002% THD+N compared to the 2704's .006%.

This sounds promising. Anyone know of any other amps out there currently using the 2702 or will the Move2 be the first?

Can't wait to hear Jan chime in more on the Move2.
