I'm thinking about getting an E10 MD player for those minimalist days. Sony quotes the same output figures for the E10 as the EJ2000 (which is pathetic) so these are going to have to be very efficient earphones. I don't want too much isolation, something like a V6 would be good. Above all it has to sound optimal, not "if you amp it it gets better", at the power offered by the E10... And the sounds has to be GOOD. Does such a thing exist?

I'm not one you in these matters, but the masses say go the Ety route no ? From what I remember, the Etymotic ER-6 P's don't need amplification..or at least that's what Steve over at Scientific Plastics said.

If not those, then perhaps one of those Sony Fontopia ones ? I recall someone saying that at least ONE of those models sounded quite nice.

v6 basically is the same as the 7506 no?... Anyway, any problems with the headphones you currently own? You want to buy *another* pair?

Ah yes I left some room for misinterpretation. I want EARPHONES not headphones. Something I can wind around the E10 when not in use.
I don't want the sound to be 'stressed'. I have the EX70 and would not choose to listen to it unless I really needed to. The ER-6 seems to have too high an impedance, which leaves the ER-4P with quite good figures. Is that my only option or is there something else?

The ER4P... You wouldn't like the sound... Very Sony E905-esque (that'll mean more to you than to pretty much anyone else

The ER-4P's would be bliss with the E10. I suspect the 888's sound quite nice, also, but offer very little isolation.
