Well my eBay auctions went through and I want your opinion. Should I get a piar of Grado SR80s or an amp? Dont try to change my mind on the phones caus eI want these. Right now I have D66 eggos and e888s. (the e888s wont be using an amp )

You can probably get a pair of SR-80s and an amp for a very reasonable price. There are always good used amps for sale here on Head-Fi or you can have someone build you a CHA47 (great match with the Grados) or a CMoy.

But, why don’t you slow down for a while and just enjoy your eggos? You haven’t even received them yet and you’re already planning your next purchase.

Seems to me like you should get to know your current new ‘phones quite well so you can decide what it is you like / dislike about them. Then biased on those opinions, maybe the Grados will be right for you or maybe something like the Beyers or some Senns would be better.

Maybe you shouldn’t collect a bunch of $50 to $100 phones and maybe save a bit and try some $150+ phones and an amp?

I’m just saying that you seem to be moving really fast on these buys.

it is the gear board here, and to clear things up, the money i just got would is put away. these grados would be bought at the end of the summer if anything, so im not moving too fast. i also want to MAYBE build my own amp, as a little project over the summer. and plus i want to find a place to test out the grados and the closest place ive found it in the next state, which would be really hard for me.

D66 eggos and super mini sounds better then SR80 unamped. I have owned a pair of SR80's and I'd recommend them to anyone, their a very good choice for the price. Just make sure you get the extra comfy earpads with it! Or it'll totally abuse your ears and drive you mad.

I recommend you get an amp for your eggos though.. Super mini or meta42.
