The springs came with those ends, so I used them. More stress-relief can't hurt.

I might try making my own braided cables too. Not this week… but sometime.

Yep... I suppose if it bothered you, you could cover them with a layer of shrink.

I like the sort of bead-blasted finish of the canare connectors as well. Mmmmmmm.

Yes. Very classy looking. I just ordered some Canare RCA connectors for making a mini to RCA stereo interconnect and a RCA-RCA interconnect. I might try braided CAT5 for the RCA-RCA.

I have a JMT made IC and I'm thinking on making my own. This time I would like RCA-Mini. Browsing through the forum, here is my list of what I think I might need:
Canare connector
Super Silver Braid of about 3 ft

Is this it?

It's used to insulate the soldered plug connections from the outer sleeve.

What did you do with the braid?

Braiding any length is a pain. I'll get back to it someday.

Now those are some slick looking cables....I gotta start thinking about a bit of DIY myself. I think a cable would be a good place to start.

Nice work

The shielding braid? I trimmed it down and didn't use it. I suppose you can connect it to the ground on one side and leave the other unconnected (like some manufacturers do).

I think leaving it unconnected is good thing, too.
