Irma Vep - 9/10

My philosophy teacher recommended everyone in class to watch this French art film. It is a very beautiful film with a very interesting story that touches on the theme of desire. Maggie Cheung, playing as herself in this film as a latex worn, exotic sexual desire object on the eyes of a declining director plays the role with such fluidity and naturalness that it almost touches near perfection, Absolutely loved it.

The Hoff wasn't in this one....lol. Although he could have played the part done by Jerry O'Connell, quite well, I'm sure.

Then you have posted the wrong poster. It is confusing. Your watching the 3D not DD.

Here you go.

This is the movie for your poster.

My mistake then....plus I didn't get the benefits of 3D either...lol.

I went back and corrected my earlier post as well.

Funny how they are both cheesy and dumb but a little entertaining. I was surprised I somehow was able to get my Wife to watch them both!eek.gif

The Hunger Games - 8.5/10
I like the movie and also the books

Zatoichi and the Chess Expert: 7/10

Good, but not great. Sort of all over the place if you're not paying attention. Combat choreography looked a bit more off than usual.

Pandora's Box: 9/10

I've never watched a silent movie before this one; I am surprised it managed to keep me entertained throughout its 2 hour long length.
The story is far and beyond the most interesting part -- it's hard to describe, but it feels older than what it is (thought about Voltaire's Candide for some reason).
Acting was over the top only once, otherwise it was well done, not too much.
And the centerpiece main character, Lulu, is striking. Gives a new meaning to "they don't make 'em like they used to".

"Lincoln" [9.2/10]: Daniel Day Lewis' performance alone requires a "9.0." He channeled Lincoln, no doubt about that. While I realized that the film focused on the political battle over the thirteenth amendment going in, I just found myself wanting more of Lincoln's story and the story of the Civil War.

@Focker

Just finished watching Expendables II. Agreed it was a fun watch if you prepare yourself for some mindless hollywood action. I agree with your comment on Van Damme. Far from an oscar winning performance but he has gotten better at actual acting in his old age if you compare. The continual one liners and action film references I got a kick out of. Good times.

I had a blast with Expendables 2. If you want to see a great "old version Van Damme" flick check out In Hell. It's like Shawshank Redemption with fists. JCVD was also really good and proves the guy can act his ass off. I've always loved Van Damme though. Bloodsport is one of the best movies of all time. FACT.

"Savages" [9.3/10]: I really liked this movie. Edge of the seat type plot line. Best Oliver Stone movie in a long time. Best John Travolta performance in  long time. Loved the soundtrack. Highly recommended
