The "how to spot a fake" thread

It actually looks fairly legit, I don't usually trust ebay for products like this, especially if the price is low, but the packaging looks correct if I remember what it looked like correctly and the other items the seller has don't appear to be anything commonly counterfeited. The picture is kind of small though, I'd wait for a second opinion at least.

Actually, those bootleg factories have already started making CX300 with the same new package long time ago.

Check this china auction site

Buy it now price for less than $10 USD.
So new package doesn't really garuntee the authenticity...

Forget about fake 650s. Not only is the construction too elaborate, but they come in a deluxe case that's also too elaborate to duplicate. Besides, they're too low volume to be worth duplicating.

Plus, buyers of phones on Ebay at that price are likely to be very cautious.

Hello to everybody.

I've just purchased Sony MDR-EX082, but I started to suspect that it is fake. How can I spot it, so get my money back? I've not received the headphones yet. Thanks.

Hi

a month before I bought some ESW-9 from ebay, even though at head-fi users warned from buying them at ebay.

However it was too late for me, because I already bought it..., before considering if they were fakes or not.

My Idea was, if the seller is offering more from those headphones, to search the buyer who already bought the same item and ask them. I my case there were three buyer who bought the esw9 from there and every of them replied on my question.

All 3 said that they are sure that they are not fakes. As for megrim for example, the mdr-ex082 is cheaper then the esw9 and more sold than the esw9, so there are more buyer you can ask.

I think they are fake.

I bought the sony a820 series and those buds came with it (bought it directly from Sony). The buds have THAILAND written instead of CHINA (have them next to me now).

If you show the other part of the IEM (the one that faces your ear), maybe there is something different as well, but I think it should be enough to know that SONY makes his MDR-EX082 in Thailand. How much did they cost?
