How much did you invest on your headphone amp?

HI: How are you? Yes I sold the meta42 and the gilmore amp. I am using the rca jacks on my source to a mini plug to my super mini amp with a 9 volt 800 m/a regulatated wal-wart to the super mini amp with the 9 volt adapter that XIN put on it.

Approx. 50 on some crap amps I hate...

$30-ish on CMoy

So far, over $100 in chips for my new Jung-loop amp (like Meta42, but not a Meta cause I am not using that board) Still need to buy the resistors/caps and add crossfeed.

And if you count my ProMedia5.1 headphone outs, then I spent $450 on that amp.

I've got $400 invested in a used X-Cans V2/X-10D/X-PSU, which is less than my source (by a lot) and more than any single set of headphones (by a little). I think that I'm pretty well balanced in this regard, for what that's worth.

Hi NEO,

Just received my SuperMini v5 w/booster connection ($99), in fact it's burning in as I type.

Can't wait to my hear my DCP-100 you sold me with the amp after burn in.

I should have alot to report later.

I bought the SHA-X (one of a kind) for a steal and will be pumping in enough mods to match what I paid. In the end it should be worth 2k at least.

I'm a newbie, just dove right in and got the Sennheiser 600s and the KG Gilmore Dynamic... love the combo right now. I had a pair of Grado SR80s and a fixup mini prior... ended up selling the Grado's.

Did I mention I LOVE the KG Dynamic.

About $50 IIRC for my current amp. The one before it cost about as much because of the screwups I made with it. My headphones are more expensive than any of my sources. My current sound card cost me a mere $37, although the computer it is connected to has drained around $2,000 from me in the last 3 years. So I have a $37 source connected to a $50 amp connected to a $150 set of headphones. My amp sounds fine to me, so my next upgrade will probably be a new sound card and/or a entry-level home CD player.

Hmmm....

Sources:
1. Marantz DV-8300 ($1200)
2. Pro-ject Perspective Turntable w/ BPS and Monolithic PS-1/HS-1($1700)

Amp:
NONE - STill Shopping ($400-500 budget)

Cans:
Sennheiser HD-600 ($250)

At first, it looks like sources far outprice my amp and cans, until you realize that my sources are primarily also used as sources in my primary system.

I have now had my new HeadRoom Max for 5 weeks and I have to say it's the "Best" investment I have made with my Headphone Hobby by far.

What's great about it is that; It makes all the "Difference" with all of my components and accessories. What is most amazing about the Max is that "all" of my Headphones now sound great and can be easily driven.

Also amazing; I do not have super expensive CD Players, Cables, Power Cords, Power Conditioners or numerous other tweaks that "supposedly" create better Sound.

For "Me", it's the Max that has made the most significant difference and is my Best Investment.

And, Yes; I have tried or have owned many other Headphone Amps: X-Can v1 & v2, Creek OBH-11 & 11SE, Grado RA-1, HeadRoom Little.

These Amps are also great/good. But I was never really satisfied until I got the Max.

Hi GaryL, how are you doing? Which headphone do you use with you current set?
Denon is very accurate and straightforward PCD-more like a transport. Your headphone and amp will determine how the sound of the whole set is. It is build like a Hummer too

Pls post a review of both Denon and amp for us. The Denon is quite infamous here and the V5 has just been released so your review will be very interesting for us.
