For those interested in the tech side of things: I used a Mamiya 645afd shooting fuji provia 100f. (speaking of if you want a great slide film that scans very well its a great choice). If you like it and want to see the results of the next installment (shooting this Wednesday) check for it on my site: NickDiFilippo.com Just in case I forget to post them here.

A lot of good work on the past few pages!

I just have a question for you all. How do you print your pictures properly? I mean I print mine at Costco and it's for my photo class, and the colors, size, saturation, contrast are all wrong. I just want to have the same one as I see on the screen or at least similar to it. I use Gimp and I have the photo on sRGB color profile.

Costco can turn out pretty good quality prints, but you have to ensure that they don't override your colors. By default, the online and in-store systems often do "Auto color" adjustments which can be pretty awful, especially if you use a decent editor like Photoshop or GIMP. Turn off the auto options when you print, output will be much better.

going back through some stuff from last year to find more keepers

Definitely recommend the larger views of each of these. The second is a high res stitched panoramic. I'm going to have to do some larger prints.

I am not aware that Costco has the option to allow you to turn off auto color adjustment. Even if they do have it, it would make no sense unless they give me their printer's color profile. I don't think they have that info either. Without the profile, having color adjustment or not doesn't make a difference, in the sense that you don't know what color you will get in either case.

Also how good the print is, is also very dependent on the particular Costco store. Some Costcos I go to are absolutely horrible. Huge grains, scratches in the prints, etc. Some stores are much better...

Anyway, I'd rather pay a tiny bit more to print at a pro lab so I get the right color and quality every single time.

Wow...stunning. If you can make it a 1920x1200 I'd be enamored to have it as my desktop background.
