Metallica - Hardwired to Self-Destruct             again...

I've listened to it a few times myself.  It's pretty good with a lot of variety I think.

CD or download? Do you like it and how does it compare to their early years works?

I ordered the 3 disc version and it got back ordered so I won't have it till next week, but with Amazon I got the mp3 version with it too.  I think it is a little bit of everything they've released since the Black album.  I do enjoy each song on it.  Just a lot of variety.  Overall I'd give it an 8/10.  Way better than Death Magnetic IMO.

hery fourrobert13,
CD. I like it so far. I'm a huge fan of their earlier work but I'm not one to slap on their new stuff too much either. I hear enough of the old stuff that I think a person would recognize they're the same bunch. I don't know that I'd call it the "bringing it all back home" breakthru but I really like it.  And yes, I like it much better than Death Magnetic and the recording is a lot better but really, what isn't... Enjoy!

Agreed.  I'm not a fan of much of anything post Black album except for a song or two here and there.  However, this just sounds like a good mix of a lot of their career.  Certainly not a throwback album, but a combination of what's been good over the past 20+ years.  Spit Out the Bone is my personal favorite from it, but they're all pretty good songs.  I was very surprised with it TBH.
