Cant speak for the 11 but the word Etymotic and UE-10 should never be in the same sentence ever!

Ety's may have clarity but nothing else the 10's offer.

Same really for E500,530 trying to compare these universals is like comparing a Kia and a Ferrari. Yes they are that different!

E500 has horrible treble rolled off and gritty harsh midrange to me.

While I have a serious problem with the E500 treble... enough to find it a bit disappointing, I hear nothing but a smooth warm enaging midrange and very adequate bass.

The treble is enough to really make me yearn for more in an IEM though. It bores me like the HD650.

But I think you are a little harsh about the bass and midrange. It's a very good IEM treble aside.

Yes you are right trose49. I shouldn't have said etymotic. So I don't think there is really any IEM in the same league. But for headphones? the sound signature is more like Ultrasones. What do you think?

You see I find the E500 treble to be splashy, rolled off and less refined.

I also don't know why but I find E500 midrange to be sharp sounding, ear piercing. It gave me fatigue quicker for my long listening session. I kept my E500 for about 6 months but I sold it 2 months ago. I prefer Westone Midrange by far.

E500 bass, although it goes very deep, but I miss the upper punch.

But hey, this is the problem with universal, everyone ear canals are different and therefore canal shapes and fittings must be taken into consideration as well. Unfortunately that's how E500 sounded to my ears.

It's sad that I can't never really go back to universal after getting used to custom IEMs for so many years.

Currently I'm listening to John Mayer - Continuum - Stop This Train
Wow is the sound of the acoustics and the silky smooth bass amazing. The piano almost brings tears to my eyes its so emotional. I think I just had my first true eargasm! Aww man and all over my keyboard, damn... oh well I have another. I do take back everything I said about the bass drum not feeling like it has any punch.

I'm definitely starting to feel the bass now and wow is it sweet. Being properly driven I could definitely see people who prefer absolutely flat sound spectrum to be disappointed but for those who don't mind crystal clear highs, buttery sweet mids and a very very nice bass non-overly-overpowering bass boost will absolutely eat these up.

As for artwork, what do you guys think about these?

I've had a few mention the skull rocking but I'm really liking the dragon face.

Jazic,
I just wanted to say that I am very happy to see that UE is re-doing you Artwork, I hope that I wasn’t too harsh but I only said what I said because you and your very expensive Custom IEM’s deserve better.

I hope the new Artwork comes out much better then the first ones.

Please except my apology for the harshness, but I think you needed to hear the truth, keep enjoying those UE-11’s, I will be joining you as soon as mine are shipped.

Oh none was taken at all. I was thinking the same thing just didn't say it. I emailed UE and the skull on the left should be no problem at all. The artwork really didn't seem to matter aside from the first 10 minutes of having them then after that they were and afterthought. Although, I still do want them fixed.

I'm actually more concerned with the fit of my right ear, hoping it turns out as good as the left.

What do you do with $1100 custom IEMs if you don't like their sound? No thanx I'll wait six months and see if folks are still in love with them then. When the E500's came out the forums were full of their praises as well' At least if I get tired of my shures I can still get some return on my investment!

I swear, yesterday, when I read your post, I totally agreed with you, but
after I cleaned out the dust and wax from my nozzle, it was a MAJOR improvement. The treble really isn't anything to complain about now."
I hope its the same for you after you clean your nozzles out.

Can anyone make any statements between UE11 and triple fi?

Aug 9, 2007 at 9:19 AM Post #116 of 1,600
does it actually take them a full 3 weeks to finish it and ship it out from the day they receive the impressions? or is that just an estimate and they usually get it out before 3 weeks?

You made my mouth watery

Finally I decided to get rid of my triple driver universal fit IEMs and to apply for a nice UE 11

The elephant in the room wants to know why anyone would buy these before the release of the Westone 3? There is a significant price difference. Also, even though they are yet to be heard under real world listening conditions, there is always the possibility that the Westone will sound as good for less money.

I had to bite. Couldn't resist either. Finally waiting at the bus stop longer and then longer paid off (for once). Been waiting for an update for 2 years. Generally I discourage that, but I have no idea why I did wait this time.

They had my impressions on a Friday and had payment, artwork and colors early the following Monday morning. It took me two weeks to have mine done and paid extra for a Saturday delivery which is when I started this thread.

They are probably saying 3 weeks to cope with the flood of new orders "just in case" they fall behind.

You could try emailing UE for a more reasonable estimation and whether or not they are slammed with orders.
