you cant neglect the customer service when you buy a product. you didnt only pay for the product but the warranty, customer service, and so on..

a spectacular product with unreliable customer service.. hmm... for me, i would rather go with a mediocre product with good customer service..

i was looking to purchase a usb dac for a while. pandora fits my need(rather perfectly) but.... ehh... i dont want to risk it..

It's riNcewind. He should spell it right, or CTRL-C/V. I don't call him Tower7.

Not even worth crediting this with a direct response, but since ppl are jumping to conclusions here, I better remind them what I've posted already anyway: I don't work for Storm. I'm only posting information which I've either verified one way or another. I bought a DAC off him, and have actually spent WAY MORE on fixing the D02 DAC than I bet anyone else on here has (bought for 512USD in 06, then about 700USD fixing it, and only resold it to a friend for 400USD. An outright loss by any definition, and currently don't have a Storm DAC). This can't possibly qualify as me benefitting in anyway. And the DAC was faulty for a year - longer than some ppl on here have been waiting. Yes, I MUST be right in Ken's pocket, seeing as I've been treated so much better than anyone else here!?!?!! What.

I guess this means COEM AU and 003 and Superpredator etc all work for him too. I hope you have a BIGASS appetite for your-own-word burgers.

BTW, to a select few ppl on here: Underpants go on the INSIDE!

I don't think any have been sent out yet. I've been in contact with Ken and he had a delay in the machining of the case lids. Everything else is ready to go by the sound of it so once they come in, the units can be packaged and sent out. If he's reading then I'll assume he can give you more detail.

apparently there was a delay getting the case lids because of the recent bad weather in china. but he has since gotten them. supposed to be putting them on and fixing an issue with popping when switching inputs. after that, i dont see what other delay or issue could stop him from sending them out.

Lets hope the weather in China holds out for the week

I can't wait for the owner reviews to begin...

I still have no internet at home (stupid phone companies) so I've been largely excluded from all discussion pretty much since I got the unit

since then i've enjoyed it for a long period and then returned it to coem. It is a very good sounding dac

I've had a pretty good eye on ALL the controversies that have been going around since the storm d02. that said, i will be buying a storm pandora when (if?) they ship.

It sucks that things have gone they way they have. If ken finally finishes the unit for sale and ships them out, it will be worth it for me because the DAC sounds good enough that I'll be willing to "forgive" him.

Of course, I'll be buying from a distributor and not from ken directly. I dont think I'd ever prepay him for anything, but I'll happily give my money to someone who can immediately provide me with the unit (as opposed to paying now and hoping to receive one in a month)

edit: i'm pretty much over analytical listening and, like i said in an earlier post, i've never heard the benchmark/lavry/etc, so unfortunately i'm in no position to recommend the unit really. all i can say is that i really enjoyed the pandora when i had it. i'm looking forward to when people receive it so that we can hear from customer reviews from people more experienced than me

double edit: and presumably it's best for others to wait until then too. a number of people will be receiving one from their long-ago pre orders, so there should be plenty of people to give impressions once they ship. others should probably wait until then before putting any money down

After thorough inspection of the DAC I find these 2 issues:

1) there is light audible buzz from the DAC in both ON/OFF (if I am very close to it)
2) the display blinks in small area (some letters)

I wrote it to Ken, that he can fix it in next DAC´s. I also wrote him about packaging.

Appreciate it. The buzz is an annoyance with the D02. It's very important that this is taken care of with the Pandora - I'm sorry it wasn't for yours.

omon, how close is your ear to the dac before u can hear the buzz? is it from the transfomer? i think all transfomer make humming noise. if i put my ear close to the transfomer section of my zhaolu , i can hear slight hum.
looking forward to hear your impression about the sound quality.

I used to own a Pass Labs Aleph 30 and a FirstWatt F1. If you put your ear up to both of these, you could hear the slight hum of the toroidal transformer. I spoke directly with Nelson Pass and he actually inspected my F1 and tightened the transformer, but said there could still be a slight hum due to the nature of the transformer. They have small, vigorous vibrations and hum if they are not damped extremely well, and it is very hard to get it damped so that you can't hear it if you put your ear up to the amp, because of how vigorously they vibrate. I can also hear a hum on the transformer of my MPX3 SLAM and on the Cayin HA-1A and on my DAC-60. I think the bigger the transformer, the more they hum and of course the harder they are to damp, and the Pandora has not one but two large transformers. Also humming can vary based on the ripple and fluctuations coming from your ac outlet. I seriously doubt there is something wrong with the DAC but he could e-mail Ken just to be safe.
