Grado HP-1000 $810 on EBay, vs. RS-1? | Headphone Reviews and Discussion - Head-Fi.org

Well, there's a pair of HP-1000's right now on eBay and I'm starting to wonder how they compare to the RS-1? I really like the RS-1s, they seem to have fixed all the stuff that I don't like in the SR-series. Q: are they worth the $810+?

No they arn't. They are like the rs-1's without the sweetness. Detail, forwardness and soundstage are similar but the hp-1000's are closer to how the recording is supposed to sound. I like the rs-1's for rock better but I'm sure the hp's would kill them for classical music.

The HP-1000 is like the RS-1 but more neutral, more laid back, and more airy. The RS-1 on the other hand have more detail and are almost as neutral, and are much more musical to my ears.
