I opted for the silver B-52.

It pairs better with my gold Marantz...

what's your source?

I also contemplated about the B-52 but I can't get used to the 20-30 mins. warm up time of tubes. The smaller footprint of the Apache is also a nice perk.

Meridian 596 DVD at the moment which is single ended for redbook CD. i am considering a few different sources to go balanced but i have not decided between 508.24, 588, G08, or maybe a DAC1

Ray is sending a 508.24 for a demo so ill post on how it compares to the 596 in single ended playback.

FWIW i dont think i could have fit a B52 on my rack, i didnt check measurments but from thie pics its a beast, B52 is a fitting name!

OK, count me in. It seemed providence that found me checking in here to see what was new and finding out about Apache.

So the precursor is: I listen to speakers a bit more but wanted to get a headphone amp. And I run balanced everything because my rig is comprised mostly of audio pro gear with linux computer source. I drive HD-600's via a Lavry DA-10 which seems to be OK but not great (good DAC for me BTW but making it do headamp duty is above and beyond the call...). Senn HD-6x0's are childishly easy to recable balanced. Lo and behold, all the celestial bodies align for perfect placement of the Apache.

This will be truly something to look forward to. The material and sonic craftmanship in the Apache maked it an exceptional value. In a big-box retailer world, I'd support guys like Ray any chance I get.

Thanks Ray.

It has come to my attention that you may be moving today and that the phone is the best way to get a hold of you. I will try to call you today, if not, Monday for sure on the payment details. I'm thrilled to be getting an Apache.

I guess he's just busy. He hasn't replied to my B-52 confirmation yet, either.
