Koss electrostatics

The Koss outlet store is located in a warehouse/garage annex of the Koss factory main building at Koss worldwide headquarters in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

I was working in Milwaukee for extended periods during 1993 and 1994. While I was there, I visited the outlet store on several occassions. At the time, I was interested in speakers for my computer.

I picked up a pair of Koss powered HD/6 speakers and Koss hanging-type mounting brackets. The speakers listed for $100/pr, but were available from the outlet store for $50/ for the pair including the power supply. I still have these speakers hooked to my computer.

Thanks for the info. Mkmelt. My retired next door neighbour friends keep a summer cottage in Wisconson. Maybe they can pick me up a pair when there if the price is right.

Vertigo. True ... they may be not as revealing as Stax's, but still considrably cheaper than most of the Stax line-up. They are still probably a step-up over many dynamics. In the review you mention, they appear to be a bit more foregiving than the Stax's, with a bit warmer midrange and heftier bass.

I went to Koss' website two weeks ago and made a request for more info on the 950's, and never received ar reply.

I own a pair of the ESP950s. When I first got them, I was blown away, especially because I could turn them as loud as I wanted with NO DISTORTION in the sound! Fortunately for my hearing, I got over that.

These days I prefer my HD600s. I find that after listening to the 950s for more than half an hour, I keep wanting to turn down the volume...but not so with the Senns. Also I like a somewhat warm sound for headphone listening.
