BitHeads are down $50 IIRC. Previously AirHeads were discounted but BitHeads were still full price.

Wow, I wasn't aware of these price drops. $99 for an AirHead and $149 for a BitHead...must...resist...

skai, denlint - Take that elsewhere. Skai, it's too bad that you don't have enough posts to post in the marketplace, but that doesn't mean you can de-rail somebody else's thread into your own personal FS thread.

I've got a pre-gain switch model. Is it worth the cash for the upgrade? My next phones will probably be DT880s.

That's a good price. The Total Bithead is a very nice gadet for laptop users because afaik it's the only portable-amp-dac combo that is USB-powered. The Porta Corda or Headphonia may sound better, but batteries - even if they can be recharged internally - are a huge hassle for me. That was the main reason I bought the Total Bithead. Soundwise, it's not a quantum leap from the Macbook's line out, but there's a small improvement. I don't know if the Macbook's internal DAC (Wolfson chip, I think) might not even be better than the Bithead's but again, I like the USB-power.
