Who is not going to HeadFest? Why?

It's only a few hours drive for me, but unfortunately it's the week right before the end of the semester and I really don't want to flunk anymore classes.

I have a soft spot for fem vocalists, way too many to even try to list, (would be several pages)

but if i had to list my 3 favs, they would be Lucinda Williams, Stevie Nicks and Emmylou Harris.

A few reasons why:
1. I am in Edinburgh, Scotland
2. Finals in May...
3. ...so parents won't let me go.
4. Hence parents won't give me the money to go.
5. Can't afford to buy plane tickets and pay for accommodation myself.

I'd love to go, but I'm just too busy with work right now, and work just happens to involve flying up to the Bay area every week or ten days for a two to three day stay, so I don't feel like another one of those trips right now. I had hoped the meet might coincide with one of my scheduled trips, but no such luck.

Not going, sadly...

1 Wrong country, not necessarily a problem, apart from reason 2.

2 No money

I have two small elderly dogs who have been my roommates for nearly 13 years. We're very attached. Every time I leave them in the kennel, they don't eat and are always thin, hoarse, and ill when I get back from a trip. After my second annual week long golf vacation last year, it took a very long time for them to recover ( especially Salvatore, my Italian Greyhound ) so I decided then, for the rest of their lives, I would not leave them in a kennel for more than a day or two. I couldn't live with myself if my being on vacation was the cause of their demise.

I have old friends in San Francisco and L.A. who I would love to visit ... which is what I would usually do as part of the trip. Flying all the way to California for one day's stay is too tiring and wasteful IMO however. Even if I were to do that, with two day's flying, the dogs would still wind up having to spend at least 2 and probably 3 days in the kennel. So I'm screwed.

Sadly, I've already passed on golfing in the Bahamas and in Tennessee this year. Now I'm hearing about some small dogs living as long as 20 years, and am wondering what I've gotten myself into.

Last year's meet was great, so I'm sorry I'm gonna miss this one.

Well:

#1 I'm in process of paying off ALL of my credit cards because
#2 We about to move our karate school to a brand new location which is:
#3 3x the rent I'm paying now (because it'll be 3x times the size)
#4 I just don't have the funds to buy all the wicked gear that's gonna be there that I'd be able to purchase

....as a matter of fact, at the Colorado meet here on the 5th, I'm going to have some of my gear for sale if anyone is interested.

#5 The one product I've got in my sights now is the UE10Pros!

Wish I could go, but it's on the wrong side of the country. x.X

If it had been in NY this year I would have been there. I understand why we have to switch sides every year though, wouldn't be fair. Maybe next year. =)

How about next year we have it somewhere closer to the middle of the country?

I took a look at the prices of flights, layovers, total travel time involved, hotel & meals and it was getting mighty close to 1K.
I like you guys, but not enough to spend that much

Seeing how my name is on the DHS terrorist no-fly list, I'm probably not making it past the border. On my last trip to the US some years ago, I found out much to my dismay that I share my name with a terrorist, and was detained and hassled for hours by TSA lackeys before they finally let me through Customs. There's no way I'm going through that again.
