Worst Fanboys?
Dec 9, 2011 at 12:23 AM Post #496 of 636
After reading some comments around the Internet though, I've been reminded who my truly least favorite fanboys are:  Fanboys of "authority," who utterly cheer on the complete abuse of power against people they don't like, without paying a moment's thought to the larger implications.  Worst.  Fanboys.  Ever.

So...Republicans? I can get behind that.

Battlefield 3.
I've never seen a turd placed on such a high pedestal before. Its one thing to be dumb for something you love, its another to deface every other FPS title even when your game isn't mentioned.

All first person shooters are overrated.

Honestly, the world is just full of authoritarians and authoritarian fanboys, of various types and degrees of arrogance.  The mindset is hardly limited to one political party...but this probably isn't the forum for a detailed political rant.

I'm a socialist. But if you want to learn more go to pm. I am all for a bit of economic freedom as long as you don't abuse that right in a way that harms others.

But let's not get into a political conversation on head-fi.

Fanboys in general are irritating, but I would've figured the CoD:MW fanbase to be more vocal.

As for BF3 itself...I tried to get into the open beta, but the whole "Battlelog is your game menu" thing is downright stupid, and there's still that heavy emphasis on unlocks that started with BF2142. I'd rather stick to the first three games for now; it's not like BF1942 or BF2 will die out any time soon. (BF:Vietnam, on the other hand...that one probably won't last quite as long.)

The beta was crap, the game itself is pretty awesome.  Most dynamic FPS on the market and it rewards strategy - alot less spawn camping/quickscoping garbage.
If you dont like BF3 what do you consider to be a good FPS or is this just a hate squad?

Typical gaming conversation with people in my school:

A: YOU LIKE HALO ??? You are g**, halo is for p******.

B: COD is for f*gg***, BF3 is the best, it has better graphics.

C: Gears of War ? Who plays that ?

D: You pre-ordered Black Ops ? You FAIL  !

The BF3 fans in my school seems to hate all other shooters simply to stand out and look cool. Every time I tried to talk to them, they try to argue that things other than game play makes BF3 a better game.

You'd think a billion dollar franchise would have that...
I doubt CoD fans would be different, but they have no reason to post.

Are you joking? Not only is it neither of those things, but It makes me wonder if you understand what those terms mean.
As far as good FPS go, take your pick of any Valve , iD Soft or earlier Epic Games. Team fortress being a prime choice for both dynamics and strategy.

There was a time when that was true for TF2, but not anymore. There are too many weapons in the game nowadays. It's hard to keep track of strategy when you don't even know what you or the other team is capable of. Not to mention hardly anyone uses mics anymore...

I haven't had a problem with it. Part of Valve's design for TF2 was for characters to be recognizable by their portfolio. It should be easy to differentiate between the static posture each class takes when they have a different primary out. I don't think the amount of weapons changes the game play drastically. Could even be an argument for strategy, rather than against it. With adaption to enemy load outs on the fly being part of the skill-set required.

Australian servers really don't have a mic shortage, for better or worse...

I should probably change my previous post too, little bit too aggressive in retrospect.

-Actually, I'll just edit here and apologize. Sorry for being an aggressive ****, V2medic.
