Welcome to Head-Fi. You should value this wonderful opportunity to be the first in our community to review this amp.

Hello Kelly - that was quick- respect
wink.gif

I sure would like to review the HA-2 as much as I liked your review of the Prehead. But I do not own one. To be honest I am going to buy my first amp in the near future and the Corda´s are a bit ahead. On the other hand: I liked the X-Can V2 very much when comparing it to a Creek OBH 11. That´s why i am asking myself if it is worth to spend the extra ca. 300$ or maybe even look for another tube instead of a transistor ...

Although I haven't heard the HA-2, I do think much more highly of the HA-1 than I do the X-Cans. There's at least one sad fellow in these parts who will likely chime in with an opposing view, though.

Sad fellow? Goodness! I'm anything but that. Happy to oblige with a counterpoint

The Corda HA-1 is a nice amp. The X-Cans are an underrated one. The Corda is plug and play. The X-Cans are not. The stock X-Can v2 is a better amp than the HA-1 in areas that count to me (imaging and tonality in the midrange)...in the right setup. A tweaked X-Can v2 is even better, but should more properly be compared to the Corda "Blue", which I haven't heard. The X-Can is less tolerant of faults in the upstream system than the Corda HA-1, which can create poor sound in a wider variety of settings.

You know, I was this || close to buying an HA-2, but then I went to a mini meet and decided I didn't need to spend that much and I ended up buying Hirsh's HA-1 for a reasonable price. And arg. They tried to deliver it today, but no one was home, so they didn't. I think grandma is goign to try to get it tomarow from the post office. I'f they'll give it to her, I'll have it tomarow. Otherwise I might not since everyonewill be gone tomarow as well.. And arg again, Jan says he'll tell m when he gets my MO, which means he doesn't have it yet, and that it will take around 2 weeks for my HD590s to shp here.

Just ordered a HA-2...

I love my Earmax Pro, but I think I need an equivalent solid-state alternative.

Jan confirmed once again that he can barely hear a difference between the Prehead and the HA-2 (yippee!). And kelly encouraged me to my decision.

Jan: «Der Verstärker ist auf Lager und geht morgen raus.»

Damage Control: I said I'd only heard the Prehead and liked it a lot and said that Jan says the differences between Prehead and HA-2 sonically are slight--so I'd consider ordering an HA-2 if I was considering a Prehead and had no need for the extra wattage and source selecting. I didn't actually recommend the HA-2 as I have not heard it myself.

We now continue with your regularly scheduled thread.

Have no fear, kelly, I won't hold you to account in any case... Your encouragement was indirect, by expressing your faith in Jan's judgement.

[EDIT]
Now I see: it was a bit awkward to word it that way: you never did suggest me to buy the HA-2, but in fact helped me with your Prehead review and your further assistance describing some details. Sorry!

It was Kelly' reviews of every corda amp but the HA-2 (

) that had me going in that direction, but now my HA-1 from Hirsch has arrived.

I'll go start a new thread about it.

look forward to your impression on the amp!!

I am so close to getting one too.. I too, love my Earmax Pro but I found myself with only 30min-1hr worth of listening time per day lately and more often than not, I leave the earmax pro off

Yes - looking forward to impressions about the HA-2 to the max!!

Interesting btw was the discussion between the META42 developers (and other Forum members) and Jan Meier a few days ago ...
