One quick question: How do I use a "+" and "-" power supply (like the Gilmore) with a META42? Do I simply omit the virtual ground buffer and rail splitter and hook up the positive and negative outs of the power supply to + and - on the META42 board? A step by step tutorial would be greatly apprechiated.

Thank you in advance.

the way I would do it is to placea dpdt switch AFTER the rail splitter and BEFORE the amp connection , then add a three conductor power supply jack so I would have the choice between batteries for travel and power supply at home. That is how i do my portable amps

I'm not sure what you mean by omit, or even if this is the answer you are looking for, but i think you're asking how to hook up the power supply on a regular meta42 PCB board. You said you have a "+ and -" power supply, so just hook up the + end to the + terminal on the PCB and then hook up the minus end from your psu to one prong of your switch, doesn't matter which one (assuming you have a SPDT or SPST switch). Then hook up the adjacent prong to the - end on the PCB and you're all set.......if this is in fact what you're asking.

It's probably more advisable to use the DPDT switch as opposed to a SPDT to regulate power. Not sure about the META42 but if you use an SPDT with the KG amp it will introduce DC voltage to your headphones when you turn it off.

If this is to be an AC-only powered amp, then do omit the vground buf and splitter.

Most importantly, though, don't forget to attach the ground output ('center-tap' if you will) of the +/- PSU to the vground trace of the meta42 pcb. Which is in essence the output of the railsplitter/vgnd buffer. This would be key.

Gilmore ps with a Meta? Sounds like you're building a maxed out Meta.

Let us know how it sounds.

If you want the to maintain portability, I would use a DPDT switch as rickcr42 suggest. If portability is not an issue, then Voodoochile's sugestion.
