I had to send them in for repair and they were gone for a week. While they were gone I exclusively listened to my E500 and by day 3-5 I thought wow these a great phones, it really can't get much better then this.

Well I just got the AKG's back today and immediately plugged them in, listened to a track that has been my favorite this week and realized nothing really beats a large open HP and that IEM's are no where near the musicality, detail, and presence of a full-size phone. Just my thoughts for the day.

The K701 is technically superior to the E500. Custom IEMs come much closer IMO, but at a much higher cost. The K701 sounds bright in comparison to the E500, but so much more refined and detailed.

As said in another thread!

I guess it's safe to say that I am now a AKG convert! I have seen the light! The Sennheiser veil has been lifted from my EYES! Can I get an AAAMEN!!!

From an initial listening I can honestly say that I'm happy.. let the burn in begin!

Wow! I actually have something to list in my signature!

x5.

It's the first time I've had headphones where the sound was so natural and attractive. As I'm unlikely to pay the admission to the K1000 circus, these sound great all the time, with all kinds of music. I wish they came portable, as well.

I like min, but the one knock against them is that they pull a bad source's card ASAP...
Other high-end headphones can make bad ish sound good.
However...
...Good records/recordings + good source + K-701 = perfection IMHO.

Been looking at the K701s almost too much, still can't figure out why I want them; I just do.
