It will work for the d-25s, but is it better than the radio shack?

It's half the size and weight of the radio shack wall wart for 15.64. I'm not sure if this is a good thing, though.

Have you considered making your own reg. ps for the d-25? I think it would be better than any wallwart from rs and wal-mart.

Well Puppyslug, I really don't have any sort of equipment to make one, but if you know of a diy plan for the ps...

I don't know anything about that wallwart, but I assure you it's not regulated. The regulated wallwarts are expensive. The radioshack equivalent of that sucker is $30, as you probably well know. Oh, but the radioshack is regulated.

I bought a 13.5/30 volt adapter at radioshack for $22, supposedly regulated. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

Oh yeah, if the one you bought is half the size and weight of the shack equivalent, think of mine as 4 times the size and weight of yours. Now you know why it was so cheap

Parts List:

1- 12-15v DC@>100ma wall wart (bigger the better, IMO )
1- LM317 or LT1085 positive adj. regulator
3- 1000uf 25v electrolytic capacitors
3- 0.1uf film capacitor
1- 8v 1-5W zener diode
1- DC plug/cord
1- perf. board
1- small box

I prefer zener's to set the voltage, but you can use resistors as shown on the National Semi.'s or Linear Technology's site. Resistors will be cheaper and easier to come by.

There is lots of options as which caps, wall wart, etc. to use. I would use the best ones you can afford. Even if you use
RS or equiv. stuff, IMO, it would be better than a wall wart from
RS, etc.

I can do a schematic but I don't have a scanner or the knowledge to post it.

Fixup (I believe it was him) once posted here that a very cheap walmart walwart WAS regulated and therefore better than the ratshack.

As you can't easily access the innards of a wall wart, you don't know how it was regulated, quality of the output caps, etc.

From experience with my ct570, I believe the ps plays a big role in how the player will sound. I know my reg. ps sounds a hellava lot better than the wall wart that came with my ct570. Point is, IMO, ps makes a difference.
