How bright the 325 is largely depends on the amp or source through which it is played.  Out of my Yamaha receiver they are very bright, just south of harsh.  Out of my little tube hybrid HiFiMan EF2A (now that it's been burned in), they sound great--and not so bright.

there was someone on here that had both the 325s and the rs1s, and liked the 325s better (kind of) he said i'm not going to get rid of my rs1s and they truly are great, but the 325s do a lot of things better....that was enough to cure my upgrade ites

Recently moved up from the 125 that were my very first into to good headphones in 2003 to the 325i.  I am very happy with the 325i sound wise. The improved dynamics and bass are well worth it.  The funny thing is for quite some time reading the boards about different grado flavors the 325 was the least interesting to me.  I thought they were too heavy or too bright.  Have found neither to be the case(IMO).  Although I do have the denons if I really want bass or impact.  Mainly I go to denon when my earlobes are tired from the on ear design.  Really love that I can rock out with these cans!!!

i know i keep harping about the "sock mod" but it really works..it's softer on your ears, and you will get the bass that's been escaping through the foam pads. and you will not believe how much bass there is. this is similar to the tape mod where you seal the edges of the pad with scotch tape. but this is different. the trick is to use a cheap sock, this way some of the sound waves will still escape, and you will not get a boomy sound like with the tape. iv'e tried pulling them off and on countless times, and they do sound much richer with the socks..it sounds like you upgraded to a more expensive set of cans.some people will think that you loose some of the highs, that is not true. it is just do to the added mid bass that was somewhat lacking , but all the highs are still there.. if you don't like the sound, take them off.

Hi adanac061 great to have you back. I have been a member of the owners club and I still am. I have been on the list for a long time and I even have a picture in the first post but the picture is not online anymore. Maybe I should find a new picture which is online.

Good luck with renewing the list :-D it will take you days.... Enjoy your Cuban instead. :D

no longer a member of the club since i upgraded to rs1i, but i still miss that 325 sound....out of all the sub-300 dollar headphones, they are the most detailed and clean sounding i think, good times i had with them... hopefully i can get my hands on some ps1000 soon...

Hmmm.... PS1000... Have you heard them yet?  I remember listening to the PS-1000 at a meet and to my ears they were too much of everything - almost vulgar in how they present bass and treble. I prefer SR325i so far even without looking at the price tags :)

I heard bad sound PS1000 at meets too. In my own set up, SR325i is no match for PS1000 in every way.

Listening to headphones at meets can be misleading. Too short time and the wrong equipment. I would like to spend more time with the PS1000 at home. This being the SR325i Owners Club I would never say that they have a chance against the SR325i of course :)

well i've heard most of the headphones in the grado line. i like the 325 because its sound is hard to beat, even standing strong against the rs1i and being almost as good as the gs1000i, with a different sound signature of course.

the ps1000 was quite enjoyable to listen to, good strong bass, very musical, mids were forward but not as much as the typical grado, and the highs could be a little strong, but definitely not overpowering or in a bad way. i think the ps1000 if they where cheaper, would be just as popular as the t1 or lcd-2. they are basically gs1000i with better more forward mids, less muddy bass, and less darkness, almost improved in every way.

Very true.

Actually I'm not sure if I still have the club membership since I already turned my 325is into a Magnum. Still have a pair of black 325 though.

I've owned in this order:

SR60 (blew up due to my lack of understanding about tube amp warm up process)
(336 darkvoice)

DT800/600 (sold) (darkvoice 336, wa3, meier concerto)

HD650 (still own - while lovely and very "full", they clamp too tight and are too laid back) (meier concerto)

Denon D2000 - bought and shortly returned - dislike the closed sound.(meier concerto)

325is (as of today)  (meier concerto) Love the detail - and still smooth.  My impression on my new 325is is that I'm ultimately a Grado person.

OK the Grado journey continued - but the brightness of the 325is got to me before 30 day return policy was up - so I returned them.

Tried the PS500 and found the bass too prominent in a short audition couldn't wait for "break in" to fix things due to the high cost.  I ended up finding some A stock HF2 that only been used for an hour on head-fi!  Have a Mad Ear+ HD Super II Custom on the way!
