My W-5000 is coming soon. I'll try it in the following systems:

- PS Audio GCHA
- Consonance Cyber 30 (w/NOS 2A3 tubes) - perhaps with 200-ohm adapter cable
- Eddie Current Lunch Box (also likely with 200-ohm cable)
- Zhaolu 2.5C discrete amp

Source will be:

- Rega Apollo or Ori-mod'd Zhaolu 2A in main system (PS Audio or Consonance Amp)
- Zhaolu 2.5C in bedroom (with Lunch Box or Zhaolu discrete amp)

Depending on the level of isolation, I'll hopefully keep it in my bedroom system, driven from the Lunch Box (so if you want to use that as amp of choise for the list, could be the best bet).

Thanks.

I've been meaning to try an AT woody for a while, and actually purchased this on a bit of a whim to tide me over while my K340 is out of commission. I didn't realize I would like the W5000 this much. Thanks for recommending the M^3... it's become amp of choice for my two favorite headphones!

Looking over the list, I suddenly felt a pang of jealousy towards the other W5000 owners.

I don't believe the AT-HA5000 is necessarily the best-matching or best-sounding amp for the W5000. When different tastes and types of music are involved, it is possible to prefer another amp.

In my case, I prefer the HA5000 over the RSA Raptor. However, the Raptor doesn't sound worse. It has less air and a smaller soundstage, but more bass quantity and a fuller-bodied, warmer sound. With some tube-rolling the sound can also be adjusted a bit.

I'll update the first post as needed.

Regards and happy holidays to Team W5000.

I think a better pairing than a tube amp is a good tube dac together with the HA5000. Thats what i use at the moment. You get the goodness of some tube coloration, fuller sound, tube airyness, but you also keep the technical ability of the HA5000. My LITE DAC60 delivers the most impressive soundstage i heard to date on my system, and thats not the only great thing about it.
For me thats a win win situation. And youll save some money for tuberolling compared to a tube amp

However since ill be moving my headphone rig to my bedroom next year, ill be switching to a SACD player and be done with headphones for a while (im serious

Ill invest most of my hobby spendings to complete my "wanted Albums" list next year
