I didn't think I could be happy with just one before but I just got a pair of recabled k340s and they have been getting a significant amount of my on head time. This makes sense since I just got them, but I also just received my Darth Beyers back from Larry and a pair of RS-2s recabled with Silver Dragon.

I'm not saying I don't absolutely love the DBs or RS-2s, I do. I just kind of feel like if I had gotten the k340s first I may have stopped there.

Who am I kidding...no way I would have stopped. I don't think I ever will but isn't that what this place is all about.

However, I am beginnning to think that if I could only have one the k340 would keep me happy.

Could easily live the rest of my life with the HD600's. I'm a fan of Grado's in general as well but probably couldn't live with any of the ones I've had only because they only excel at one given genre. Meanwhile the HD600's excel at everything except heavy rock and metal and that's fine with me. They're also confy as heck and aren't fatiguing. Grado's maybe more fun, but taking aspirin everyday just to enjoy them isn't worth it

Since I visit this forum on a daily basis that's not happening though. Some of the exaggerations provided here (not saying everyone, but there is plenty) will make anyone go into debt sooner or later. There is never a feeling of satisfaction with your setup here unless you officially withdraw from the community for good. But that's a given anyway

It's like a GF. After a while you just want something to be bigger or smaller...

That's pretty much what I'm saying. I have only used them with this set up and they sound awesome...easily competing with the RS-2s and DBs

no, girlfriends tend to gain and lose weight. and implants are available. oh wait...thats headphone modding isn't it

I am unsatisfied with having multiple headphones for same job, so you can consider that as I want just one headphone. I technically have two, one portable, one home.
This is how my approach comes in from here on then - I try to optimize things by what I want to get from the sound, and I try to get the headphone with highest rating by those standards... well, within the amount of money I am willing to spend. Somehow I just can't see myself using different headphones for different music.

Anyway, I've been happy with the HD650 for a long time, although I keep the K271S around if I need to block out any sound.

I think minimum two cans.. something for outdoors like ES-2, and a k701.
Best would be four cans. Hd600, rs2, er-4s(for outdoor), and a dt770 (for closed)...and appropriate amplification of course..

Huh (not sure what you meant by that)?

I am very interested in hearing your Mapletree ...I have heard they work very well with Grados and I am definitely solidly in that camp unless they make me give up my k340s in which case I'm not sure what I would do.

Well I started this site with a HD580 and HD595. Head-fi got me to try other headphones, but I gotta say the HD595 is an AWESOME headphone!!! With the SP SLAM and DAC1, it does every genre quite well. Only for electronica and hip hop do I really like the HD650s bass slam more. So really.....if I was stranded on an island and only had one headphone, it would be the HD595. But it would be hard to give up my other Senns. I guess I'm doomed to be a Sennheiser fanboy

The Mapletree IS all that it's cracked up to be with these RS-2s, crystal clarity

What I meant was... i have been looking at the K340s (though they need the mods I'm sure) to be in my stable....Here we go yet again> More HPs!

Seriously though, some headphones are more enjoyable with different genres.. I see no point in limiting my enjoyment with only one all the time.

I regularly swap when listening to music, I get kick out of it like a game. Oh ELT... A-T TIME!!! OK BoAs coming up BEYER TIME!

I've become such a headphone geek...
