Female-voiced metal of all types

Artrosis is great, just painfully beautiful music. However, it is NOT heavy at all. Moonlight however, is so you should check them out as well. If you like your metal with sexy female vocals these bands are for you.

Yes, I'm not that impressed with Artrosis' - In the flowers shade. It's partly due to the lack of real live proper drumming. I'm a drummer, so that will make or break an album for me; have to stay away from recordings with drum machines. And BTW, Scanner - Scantropolis didn't light my fire. It's OK, but a little too thin and trite. And Lisa Croft's voice didn't do it for me. Right now I'm waiting for Sinergy - Suicide Beside Me and Delight - Eternity to arrive in the mail. But right this very moment it's off to check out Moonlight. Thanks for the suggestion.

I love The Gathering and Drain STH though I'm unfamiliar with a lot of other stuff in this thread.

Another band I've heard a little of but haven't picked up yet is called Symphony of Sorrow. Has anyone heard them? They must not be very popular.

I take it Pat Bentar and Lita Ford don't make the cut for this thread?

Anyone remember Warlock? Ah well, I'm old.

The album that I been listening to is Melange, so maybe others may want to check that one out.

The Moonlight album that I have heard is Inermis.

Sinergy
I hope you like this, as I said before it is an evil turbo charged version of Pat Benatar/Joan Jett style power metal. Alexi Laiho (children of bodom fame) shreds guitars with the best, and Kim Goss is a naughty girl no doubt.

Some metal critics call this a "sell out" but its not supposed to be death/black metal, it's just kick ass power metal stomp. (and yes they have real drummer)

Kelly
I am "huge" fan of Pat Benatar and Joan Jett etc but I think Doug is looking for some metal/gothic chicks......and I have not heard of
Symphony of Sorrow, what do they sound like?

Update!

There are two different versions of this album, one with polish vocals and one sung in english. The songs that I heard were sung in polish, this is the best version! The one that The End sells is in english, I don't like the way she sings in english

I have just e-mailed them about getting the polish version, since it sounds so much better.

That would be right. But I've spent a lot of good time listening to Pat Benatar. I well remember the impression her first album made on me when I first heard it. I was simply amazed that such a little lady could make such powerful music.

Any of this stuff have any resemblense to Hole? Hole is the only group with a female vocalist I have liked excluding a couple of no doubt songs hehe. I think I am in over my head in this thread...

Biggie.

Pat Benetar may not BE metal, depending on the looseness of your definition, but "Hell is for Children" is at least one of the key songs that influenced the birth of metal.

Symphony of Sorrow - I've heard some of their stuff. They have one album named Paradise Lost and their music is plain Metal with "not so bad" female vocals... but not something outstanding either... far from Tarja(Nightwish) Anneke(The Gathering) or Cristina(Lacuna Coil). It's hard to find stuff about them on the Net since they are not so known, but after some search on Google I found their name - guess where - on some RACIST, Neo Nazzy Nationalist site - they are a Swedish group with racist oriented lyrics... this filled up the cup for me - I mean, as much as I hate the message, I may be prepared to swallow up to a limit some of the satanistic, vampiristic ******** of some of the Goth/Death/Doom Metal Groups just because I like the music so much... but Racism/Nazis/White Power/Skinheads and the alikes are to much to bear...!!!

So, ****** them, I didn't need or want to hear any more...

Warlock - I guess I'm too old also...

Of course I remember Doro - on those days there were not metal bands with femm. vocals in every direction you happened to spitt... Songs like Fur Immer, You Hurt My Soul and her cover versions for Dio's Egypt and A Whiter Shade of Pale - I still listen to them some times...

*...which reminds me about the lesser known but amazing operatic voice of Floor Jansen from After Forever (NOT the cover Black Sabbath band named the same from Virginia) - you must hear her!!! This band was already mentioned here in the opening post by dougli and in the Darkest Desires Thread - they are great
