Sanity has returned. Sorry for the exhuberance, folks!

Sound: TOOO MUCH BASS! This thing shakes when it's playing bass notes. The transients are all there, as is the forward sound of the midrange. The highs are super smooth.

I may end up having to position the drivers closer to the ears to balance the midrange with the bass. There may be a bass resonance at work, here. So it must be the increased distance from the ear canal which is recessing the rest of the frequency band. I did notice that the sibilance in "Jim on the move" is no longer there.

Sorry to get you folks worked up. Greg and I will be working on equalisation to tame them.

Not so fast, wallijonn. I'm always in a place where I cannot have ANY sound leakage at all whatsoever. Thus, Grados are a no-no for those places, since they leak extremely profusely. In fact, at work I had the volume at only 3/30 - and employees heard whatever I was listening to from all the way across the break room from where I was sitting! Loud and clear, to boot! I was told by the manager to either turn down the volume (but doing so will make the music completely inaudible to my ears) or turn the music off or be sent home (in which case a disciplinary write-up will be made against me). And Grados are completely useless in a place where there cannot be any sound or noise at all whatsoever (e.g. the public library). And in my experience, I can't use Grados even at home, because my mom is easily disturbed by sound leaking from headphones. (After all, Grados leak far more sound to the outside than even higher-end AKGs and Senns.

) No mod can fix this sound leakage problem from Grados without completely ********* up the sound quality. (In fact, I tried eliminating the leakage on my Grado SR-80's, only to have them suffer from fatiguing, tinny sound with no bass and no mids!

Glad you like your modded sr80's. Why would you mod the rs-1's though? They already have good bass...

Biggie.
