DVD player as DAC?

Is it possible to use the DAC of a high-quality DVD player, using an external source/transport? I'm thinking for an all-in-one system I could have my comp's digital out hooked up to the DVD963SA, but I'm not sure if DVD/CDP's have digital ins. this page on tweakaudio says how the DVD962SA is superior to a P3A external DAC because it uses the same DAC and integrates a DVDP etc. Can it be used in the same way?
