Hi,

Looking for recommendations on isolating circumaural phones, but nobody could say anything, so I'm taking a guess at some phones that I would like. The purpose of this set ofphones is isolation and comfort. Will the 770s deliver? Isolation is the most important factor, moreso than sound quality cause I already have nice phones for when it's not loud. Of course, better sound doesn't hurt.

Any other recommendations if the 770s won't cut it?

Thanks,

Kyle

Isolate, yes they do this very well I felt, to the point that after a while I had to take them off as it felt like they created a vacuum, especially with the bass. Now as far as comfort, I thought they had a death vice grip; after a while (my 'while' was a long gaming session), I couldn't stand it and had to take them off for at least 20 mins. Now mind you, they probably stretch out, and people have recommended putting them between books to stretch them out, which I did, but it didn't seem to help that much. Granted I probably have a wide head, so something to bear in mind.

Another circumaural can that I believe is good for the genres of music listed in your sig. is the A700/A900. They are super light, super comfortable, although they have pleather pads as opposed to the velour ones on the Beyer. I felt that they didn't isolate as well as the DT770 though.

they isolate very well. the DT770M isolates even more, like insanely more, but the SQ takes a dive.

I don't think the a900 does as well either. I'm not worried about "vice-grip" since I have hd-25-1

Yeah they definitely isolate well, my GF had to tap me a couple of times, even on low volume tracks or gaming. If the HD25-1 don't bother you, then these will be totally fine. I can't really think of anything else in that price range, sounds like the DT770 might be the perfect bill.

DT770/80 Pro all the way, great isolation and they kinda have a vice grip before breaking in, but I just solved that by leaving them between some books for a few nights while I slept and during the day while at work. Granted its not going to be super loose but it does help it a bit!

As to reiterate my point, the DT770/80 Pro are awesome for isolation. Top notch!

So this comes with multiple impedances? Which is the one I want considering the setup in my sig? I can't really remember the details regarding the differences any more, so if someone could send me to a link of the correct one, that'd rock.

Thanks again,

Kyle

LOL, well there goes your isolation after that relatively quick stretch-out session. Now you know why they were made with a vice grip.

how would the isolation compare with the hd-25-1? I'm actually considering IEMs now cause they isolate so much better, but I would still prefer circumaural if it can get the job done.
