Does MP3 encoding software matter?

Thanks, also under Resampling, I see Dithering and Distribution options, do they have any effect on the output. Also what does check box Fast Mode do?

Also do those plug-ins work with .avi files under WMP?

I downloaded Audion (a Mac program) to encode with lame. The presets seem screwed up (the all encode at 128K), so I'm trying to work custom settings - which I generally prefer to do anyway. I've always wondered about the difference between "joint" and "normal" stereo. What is the difference. Merely size or sound as well?

EAC freezes every time when I open it, I guess it does not support my DVD player on my laptop. I guess then I can copy it in WMP than convert it via lame, which works, but dunno if there is a better way.

Oh no, lame cannot convert .wma to mp3.

Okay, now EAC recognizes my DVD drive but everytime I open it, I got "at 00599305 -> ACCESS_VIOLATION" error, then it closes by itself. what's the problem?
