On the subway today, a man came up to me to start a conversation. He made small talk, a lonely man talking about the weather and other things. I tried to be pleasant and accommodating, but my head hurt from his banality. I almost didn't notice it had happened, but I suddenly threw up all over him. He was not pleased, and I couldn't stop laughing.

You have a lot of posts for a gimmick account.

I have to say this is one of my all-time favorite movies. The first time I watched it, I hit Play again the second the credits rolled.

Classic.

Patrick is John Doe from Se7en.

On a more serious note, I wish this thread would die a terrible death.

Ambient/trance that gives me an emotional response:

1. The Orb - Live 93 - Little Fluffy Clouds and Star 6&789
2. The KLF - Chill Out

I don't need to get laid when I have Nordost Valhalla power cord. Put that in signature so people can see how good this cable is!

OK, rather than laid, Patrick needs to get blown off with a finger up his arse.

Read the book. I know it's one of those sad "the book is better than the film blah blah blah" sad-act loser things to say, but in this case, it really is true. The film doesn't really get to the heart of what Ellis was trying to say about society anywhere near as precisely. Period.

Agreed most profusely. I thought the film was rubbish compared with the book. Then again I read the book during a very dark time and identified with Bateman WAY too much.

Patrick,

To "enjoy" the music in the way you're trying to first means finding music that you like. Some one suggested listening to opera. I don't think that will help at all if you're not predisposed to that genre.

Somebody mentioned you listen mostly to electronic music. Maybe you just haven't found the "good" stuff yet. What they call "trance" on the radio is... how shall I put it... absolute garbage. Try to listen to some classic trance. There are a lot of good tracks that give me goosebumps. PM me for some recommendations if you like.

Do you like Pink Floyd? The first track in "A Momentary Lapse of Reason" does it for me. How about "Shine on you crazy diamond"?

Music that you listen to must also be suited to your current mood. If you're sad and depressed no way you'll feel something like "Void - In My Dreams" (hard psy track) and vice versa.

Also, perhaps you're just too young to "feel" music the way you're trying to? Music, like wine and cheese, is an aquired taste. You grow into it. A lot of it requires some emotional experience, so to speak, to enterpret.

All of this is IMHO, of course.

Another problem that I potentially see is... your system. Perhaps if you upgrade.. your cans, cables, amp.. Yes, that's what you must do. Upgrade!

Yes. If you dream you can do something, then you can! ALL athletes practice in their dreams. They just do it in real life to confirm they can do it, but they don't realize it's a waste of time. As long as the dream has accurate physics you don't need to practice in real life, ever. You only need a couple days warm-up to get used to the real life environment.
Actually real life practice makes you worse because it isn't a consistent environment to practice in. When I practice in real life I become worse EVERY TIME. If I don't practice I become better.

However, this doesn't apply to sports where you don't require a brain, like running.

In competition no athlete uses their brain, they use routine and do things automatically. Is that skill? NO. Repeating something over and over again isn't skill, it is brainwashing. Is brainwashing skill? NO, anyone can do it, you just need to be obsessed enough to keep doing it over and over again, again repeating something. Athletes are stuck in "eternal repeat mode". Eventually you are incapable to do something else than what you have practiced. That is what has happened to me. I dreamt, ate, slept and kept thinking of the same thing. In the middle of the night half dreaming I stood up from the bed and practiced my body, over and over again. And what did all those 7 years give me? Nothing at all but bad habits that I spent a long time removing. Now I'm "fresh" and don't practice real life anymore, and I improved faster in a year without practicing than in 7 years of hardcore 7+ hours a day practice! 18 000 hours wasted. The problem was, I didn't know what to practice, I just kept repeating and repeating.

Alright. I wanted to stay out of this from now on, but after hearing this obvious........lack of.....i dont even know. Do you even read what you write? Its nonsense! Are you saying quarterbacks and pitchers and batters don't think while they're playing? Have you even played a sport in your life, because it sounds like you have no experience to talk about this. Qbs, pitchers, batters, and the like have some of the most intense mind games in all of sports. Watch the QB at a football game. What he does isnt really physically draining, but mentally.

I dream i can do something, so I can???? Sorry, ive dreamed of flying my whole life and have yet to actually fly. Prove this, with something reasonable please. Thinking about doing it is NOTHING, NOTHING like actually doing it. I challenge you to dream about crusing in a halfpipe with the best of them on a skateboard. Then get in and try it. Ill bet my life you have none of the sucess you dreamed.
Sorry, but you just sound like an old dude living in some basement somewhere, who is burned by the sight of sunlight. Try going outside!!! Maybe thats why you cant enjoy anything. You havent left your house, you obviously dont have too much of a life going on outside of your damned cables.
